I am a retired mechanical engineer from the Oil Business. My hobbies
are primarily of practical nature. In addition to the regular
maintenance jobs on the house and in the garden I have restored a
veteran car, an Opel Super Six build in 1937. The car and I are from
the same year. In the garden it is mainly the greenhouse that
interests me
My introduction to IT was in 1966. Programming was then by punch cards.
To day it is quite a lot easier. I have primarily worked on technical
calculations and in the later years I have used word processing to
write technical documents. After having been pensioned. I have learned to draw
in AutoCAD. I Use AcelliCAD as software, which is a cost effective
alternative to AutoCAD.
Opel
Super Six
The car was build in 1937 and registered in
Denmark that year. The engine is a 2.5 Liter in line six with push rod
activated overhead valves. The engine was developed for the Super Six,
replaced a side valve engine, and was used for many years by Opel in
their Captain models. The color was originally light green.
So far the propeller shaft has received new universals and has been
balanced. The rubber bushings for the rear axle shock absorbers has
been renewed.
The front Knee Action front suspension has been cured for leakage (See
Knee Action repair) and filled with new oil (Automatic Transmission
Oil).
The rear end suspension has been repaired. The spring bushings were
frozen solid by rust, and some rubber bushings for the shock absorbers
have been renewed.
New King-Pins and bushings have been installed.
The interior is a very good furniture cloth in blue color. Nice to look
at and sit on, but not original.
Follow the Danish links to see further repairs.

In the
Green
House I grow mainly Tomatoes. There is space for 12 plants, half
of which are small "Sherry tomatoes", the rest ordinary tomatoes.
The grandchildren are very fond of the small tomatoes. In the West end
there is a vine plant produces plenty of good green grapes. The plant
is type "Schyler", is now 9 years old and sound and healthy.
The greenhouse is rather small. This may be the reason why it is
difficult to keep the tomato plants free of fungus. Or are there other
explanations? |

2011 Also
this year, I have grown plants from deeds. I made 24 plants,
and planted 15 plants in the small house. There is not
sufficient space and light in the small house.15
is probably too many in the small house.
Next year I will plant fewer plants. I planted Thessalonica
and Gartenperle. Thessalonica gave a fair number of good
tomatoes. Outside the house I planted Homestead, which, in
spite of the wet and cold summer, gave good and tasty
tomatoes. The Wine gave 65 good bunches. |

2010. This year I grew my own plants from seeds. I
have selected “Cerise,” an Italian Cherry tomato, and an
American Beef tomato “Cherokee Purple”. Cerise tastes good
and was popular. The Cherokee Purple Tastes good, but not
all family members found the
color
attractive. |

2007-2009
There has been many tomatoes (Elin) damaged by excessive
heat both inside and outside the greenhouse. Elin is a
widespread sort in Denmark . I will try other sorts nest
year. |
