| NSU Max.
In 1975, after many
years without possessing a motorcycle I bought a NSU Max build 1953 . It was
in black color end in a very bad condition. I had previously owned a Max and
like the advanced engine design
The restoration took
about a year. It was painted light blue metallic as the early registrations and
looked beautifully.
The engine was easily
restored. Basically, only standard roller bearings were required. A new piston
was obtained in Italy. The NSU Max was sold in
1980. |

BMW R 67/2
In 1978, I bought a rather miserable BMW R 67/2 (600 cm) build 1953.
Apparently it had been used for dirt racing. Notice the cut-out in the dynamo
cover. There was no dynamo, but there had apparently been a dynamo from a car
fitted. It was only inches away from the scrap yard. Funny enough, a major
problem was to obtain not chromed wheel rims. Eventually, they were found in a
scrap yard in Copenhagen.

The restoration took about a year and many letters to Germany to get parts.
They were not expensive. The kick starter was very worn, and the engine was
difficult to start, most untypical for a BMW. It turned out that the slot in the
camshaft for the ignition timer had been cut wrong. After fixing, the engine
started immediately. During its life many it is likely that many hours have been
spend to make start swiftly. |
| BMW R 26, build 1958.
I got it as part payment for the R 67/2 in may 1981. The engine was haunted
by excessive vibrations. The crankshaft was rebalanced with additional balancing
plates riveted to the crankshaft. It worked. It was sold in 1981 for the amount
it originally sold for. It is difficult to price old machines, and I found it
fun to sell the more than 20 years old machine with the original price
tag. |

Honda Dax
In 2002 my
youngest son bought a used Honda Dax In Spain. He got the parts painted,
but started his own business and did not any longer have time for his Dax. In
2009 I was send several boxes with parts. The engine runs fine without any
unauthorized noises, and starts first time you hit the kick starter. The most
difficult task was the electrical wiring. I have some 20 diagrams, but not one
covers the actual machine. A new was drawn and everything works. You can
download from the page “CAD ´tegninger” free of cost and without any sort of
guarantee.
